  • The Toyota Sequoia has a towing capacity that ranges from 7,000 to 7,400-pounds. The maximum capacity depends on if the drivetrain of the Sequoia is a two or four-wheel drive. The average travel trailer fits firmly in the range of things towable by the Sequoia. This is fantastic news for Sequoia fans, but there’s more to it than just that.

Discussion Starter · #1 · Jul 22, 2015. I own a 2010 Sequoia Platinum with 5.7L engine and tow package. I'm thinking about purchasing a new travel trailer with UVW of 4200 lbs and GVW of 6500. Does anyone have experience pulling something that large and how the Sequoia handles it?

If you add the GVWR of the Sequoia to the GVWR of the trailer you get 14,886 lbs. The GCVWR is 13,600 lbs, so you are over on that. The towing capacity is 7,400 and the GVWR of the trailer is 7,786 so you are a little over on that.

This family-sized SUV has a 5.7L V8 engine that delivers 381 horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque. This model also has a towing capacity of up to 7,400 pounds so that you can tow whatever trailer size that you need for your family. The Sequoia comes with TRD-tuned FOX shocks that are specially designed for off-roading.

The 2020 Sequoia is rated to tow 7400 pounds. I have a friend that tows his off road racing truck (small Tacoma, not a big trophy truck) in an enclosed trailer way off road without issue in a 2018 Sequoia, and his trailer is ~6,000 pounds with the race truck, fuel, tools and spares.

The overall towing capacity for the Toyota Sequoia's made from 2008-2009 ranged from 5,600 lbs. to 10,000 lbs., a 4,400 lb difference! The 4.7L engine had a maximum capacity of 6,200 lbs. to 7,800 lbs. but the 5.7L engine had a capacity of 7,800 lbs. to 10,000 lbs.

What size travel trailer can a Toyota Tacoma pull? With the V6 tow package, a Toyota Tacoma has a towing capacity rating of 6,800 lbs. However, that rating is simply the maximum a Tacoma can tow. The correct question should be: “What is the maximum travel trailer weight you can efficiently and safely tow with a Toyota Tacoma”.

My 20 foot travel trailer (loaded weight of 4500 lbs) has a tongue weight of about 550 lbs. This means that me, my wife, 3 kids, and their bikes and crap that we put in the bed of the truck must be less than 750 lbs. While the Tundra can tow a 9000 lb trailer, it will run out of payload capacity.

It can easily pull up to 10,200 lbs of weight behind it, which means you can find a range of campers and trailers that suits your Toyota Tundra towing capacity. Above I have also included some perfect options of travel trailers that are within your Tundra’s towing capacity. For questions and suggestions, feel free to post a comment below.

They range in length from 10 feet to 35 feet and often include bathrooms, interior kitchens, dining space, bedrooms, etc. Travel trailers are very popular among the camper community because they can be towed by any vehicle with a high enough tow capacity. You don’t necessarily need a truck to bring your travel trailer out on the road!
