One of the many benefits of Marriott Vacation Club ownership is the ability to convert your Club points to Bonvoy points. Convert your ownership points to spend them on free nights at participating resorts and hotels, book airfare, redeem gift cards, etc. Or, stay at a plethora of even more amazing hotels and resorts within the Marriott brand.

According to its website, if you are looking to purchase Marriott points directly from Marriott, the average cost starts at $22,000 for approximately 1,500 Vacation Club Points. If you’re on a budget, that can seem like a high price to pay.

The points are a bad deal no matter how you look at it. If foolish enough to buy directly from Marriott Vacation Club International (MVCI) you will be $13-14/point which, once you seal the deal, will only be worth, at most, $3.50-$4.00/point moments later.

Depending on your underlying Marriott Vacation Club status, this will give you an extra 12-24 months to use your points before they expire for good. The only catch is that once you bank you will not be able to use your points until the next calendar year starts, and you need to do this within 6 to 4 months of your use year expiring ( again dependent on status).
