I did a ship arranged excursion to a beach and had a fabulous experience with every local citizen I encountered. I also had extremely courteous service when I traveled to Cancun previously in a gorgeous resort. I definitely felt safe both times. I do feel the safety, in general, is different than it is in my country, but I still feel the risk is low.
