The Balloon Transport System or Hot Air Balloon is one of several transportation modes in RuneScape. During the Enlightened Journey quest , it can be used for travel between two locations. After the quest is complete, four more locations are available to be unlocked by completing respective journeys to those locations.

Cut some willow logs near the bridge that is directly north of the balloon transport area filling your inventory then go on the balloon and go on to Varrock right next to the Sawmill. Craft runes at the Earth altar, which is also right next to the balloon.

Engage is an achievement that requires the player to use the hot-air balloon to travel from Varrock to somewhere else. Players must unlock the ability to travel from Varrock by voyaging from Entrana to Varrock first, which requires 30 charges. Subsequent voyages only cost 3 charges. The initial travel will not count.

To travel to this location again using the hot air balloons, all you will need is one Oak Log. Varrock Route. To unlock the route to the city of Varrock, you will need: 10 Willow Logs; Level 40 Firemaking; A Tinderbox; Use the following screens for a visual reference and follow the instructions under them to complete the route. Part One

To unlock a route, start from the Entrana balloon carrying a tinderbox and the amount and type of logs listed for that route in the table below. Check the listed firemaking level requirement also - it is slightly different than for lighting these logs on the ground.

In order to travel using the balloon system, a player must give logs (noted or unnoted) to the balloon assistants by each balloon to earn charges. To unlock the 4 new routes, a player must first start from Entrana with the required charges, and navigate successfully through 3 screens to a new destination.
