I am a solo woman traveller from India who wants to visit Afghanistan. Can someone please tell me what is the ground situation like? I want to see herat, bamiyan, Mazar-e-shareef, and Kabul. Would really appreciate if you tell me what are the risks and safety tips. Thanks

It’s a war zone, so it’s not safe in any sense, but possible to visit. We used a Travel group that specialized in unusual travel venues. It was a rough month, with about a bombing a day in the country, many in Kabul.

Kabul city is relatively safe compare to other major cities of the country. It offers huge number of sights to visit such as Omar land mine museum, National Museum, Darul Aman palace, Babur's Garden, British cemetery, Bibi Mahru hills for city views, Karthi Sakhi shrine, National Archives, chicken street, the famous bird's market and the historical Bala Hisar fort etc..

Afghanistan isn't a safe destination for travelers. You should know that many governments advise their citizens not to travel to the country as it is considered practically a war zone. Be very aware of your surroundings at all times. Both petty and violent crimes are normal here.

Travel by road throughout the country, but particularly outside the capital Kabul, is extremely dangerous. Seek professional security advice for all travel and consider using armoured vehicles....

Hi guys, I am a man , will be traveling alone from Pakistan to kabul airport and then kabul to jalalabad by road for office worked purpose please can someone advised me what is the ground situation and is it safe for me on current situation.

Whether you explore the city by day or you need to get something from the shops during the night, Kabul is a safe place. Incidents can occur of course so always stay alert. I have written a whole story about my experience in the streets of Kabul which explains the situation quite well.

Afghanistan - Level 4: Do Not Travel. Do not travel to Afghanistan due to COVID-19, crime, terrorism, civil unrest, kidnapping, and armed conflict. U.S. citizens wishing to depart Afghanistan should leave as soon as possible on available commercial flights.

I do NOT recommend traveling away from Kabul city vicinity at all. The most important thing is finding safe transportation with security, such as armored vehicles. If you find any company that provides them, you can do it. IT IS NOT OKAY TO TRAVEL TO KABUL WITHOUT ANY PLAN.
